Summary
OBJECTIVE - To evaluate the application of an innovative mini-invasive extra-capsular technique for stifle joint treatment of CCL rupture.
STUDY DESIGN - Descriptive.
ANIMALS - One Dog with bilateral CCL rupture.
METHODS - We used the suture anchor system for the CCL stabilization. Suture anchors, one for each stifle joint, were inserted with a 2 months interval. The dog was controlled at ten days, 1 and 6 months after surgery.
RESULTS - All evaluation tests of the CCL lesions appeared negative.
CONCLUSION AND CLINICAL RELEVANCE - The ease in realisation of this new technique has made the surgical procedure particularly mini-invasive and rapid with a noteworthy shortening of the time needed for the complete functional recovery.
