Summary
Antineoplastic drugs are cytotoxic medications and are used to treat neoplastic and non neoplastic diseases. Chemotherapy drugs are also known to be highly teratogenic, mutagenic and cancerogenic. It is very important that veterinary staff who offers an oncology service in their practice has a deep understanding of the correct handling and administration of these drugs. In this paper specific risks and guidelines to prevent risks in handling cytotoxic medications and patients receiving these medications in veterinary practices.
