Summary

During anesthesia, one of the most important task to achieve is to ensure a sufficient depth of anesthesia for the procedure being performed. Monitoring the patient is the only way in order to identifies problems early enough to allow appropriate action.
This review will concentrate on the essentials of monitoring exotic animals during anesthesia, on the choice of a specific equipment and on its limitations in front of the high degree of variability within and between exotic species.
